In my personal experience, Ms. Sonya was truly heaven-sent. There have been many times when I’ve felt discouraged about whether marriage is even possible for me. I’m still young and navigating life, and it’s hard being a natural lover when all you see on social media is relationships. It’s even harder when you’ve never had an example of true love in your family or a father figure to look up to. For my birthday, I asked God for peace regarding my dating life. Shortly after, Ms. Sonya found me and reached out on Instagram (we didn’t know each other before that). From there, she began coaching. I’ve never liked casual dating because it always seemed to lead to heartbreak for me. Through Ms. Sonya’s guidance and counseling, she affirmed what I already felt, that casual dating often leads to unnecessary hurt, and helped me better understand why. During seasons when I felt unworthy of love, Ms. Sonya reassured me that I am loved by God and by Jesus, and that as a single woman, I am His bride. She reminded me to focus on my purpose and allow God to curate the right person for me, instead of leaning on my own understanding. She also shared scriptures that outlined the characteristics a husband should have, emphasizing that his love should reflect God’s love. I was lovingly corrected in certain behaviors I needed to let go of before marriage. Ms. Sonya’s books have also helped me through loneliness, they make me feel seen and understood. I especially appreciate her counseling because she understands what it feels like to wait. We share many similarities, and she experienced some of the same emotions I’m facing now at my age. I am incredibly grateful for this experience and thankful that I’ve been able to build a relationship with Ms. Sonya. I’m so glad she is someone I can always turn to for guidance.
